Shopping with International Students
Saturday, August 20 10:00 am – 1:00 pm Meeting place: Duke West Campus (specific meeting location will be communicated 1 week prior to shopping trip) Destination: Super Target and South Square shopping area, Durham
Volunteer to assist new international graduate/professional students by transporting them to Target and nearby stores so they can purchase things they need – groceries, small household items, electronics.
The purpose of this annual event, organized by International Students, Inc. in Durham, is to serve practical needs of students during the “settling-in” phase of their Duke University experience. We anticipate up to 120 new international students requesting this assistance. International Student Inc. staff will assign student(s) to you with the request that, upon the completion of their purchases, you transport them to their apartments. Great friendships and exchanges have resulted from simple gestures of hospitality.
