CHILDREN'S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

J and his wife Amelia moved to Durham in 2020 and began attending Waypoint back in the parking lot church days. As a seminary student, J quickly got involved in Waypoint and has served in various volunteer and staff capacities in kids and youth ministry.

J graduated from Samford University in 2019 where he studied Religion and Philosophy. He also recently finished a Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and a Masters of Arts in teaching from Western Governors University. In addition to his ministry experience, J has worked throughout Durham Public Schools as a substitute teacher and spent two years teaching 2nd grade at Voyager Academy. J is excited to combine his love for teaching and ministry to lead the discipleship and formation efforts for our Waypoint Kids.

In addition to ministry, J loves cooking–especially grilling and smoking over charcoal, backpacking, basketball, golf, disc golf, tennis, and taking care of his daughter.
