WORSHIP MUSIC LEADER

Jina was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 3. She grew up in NJ & SC and came to know the Lord during high school at her home church in SC. It was in Youth Group, where she first started leading worship through music. During her college years, at Furman University, she grew to know the Lord in a deeper way through studying His Word, discipleship, and continuing to lead worship through music at church, campus ministries, and conferences. After college, she moved to China and served as a missionary for a year. Over the next decade, she travelled to various countries in North America, South America, and Asia to serve the Lord through mission work. 

 

Jina received her Bachelors of Arts from Furman University in 2002, her Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the Medical University of SC in 2008, and moved to NC to pursue her residency in pediatric dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry. She completed her residency along with her Masters in Science and Global Certificate in Public Health from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in 2011. Lawrence and Jina met when they both (providentially) moved to NC in 2008, and they were married in 2012. After they were married, the Lord placed a vision on both of their hearts to plant a missional church in the Triangle, displaying the beautiful Kingdom of heaven, reflecting members from all nations, and sharing Christ's love by serving their local community. At Waypoint Church, you will see her serving on the Worship team, teaching Women's Bible studies, subbing in Kids Ministry, and leading the Embrace Ministry Committee. 

 

Jina and Lawrence have 2 amazing boys, Josiah and Hudson. In their spare time, the Yoo family love to travel across the US and the globe. Jina loves playing acoustic guitar (and various other instruments she can get her hands on), singing, songwriting, and making videos of their family trips. She also enjoys playing and watching various sports, attempting to garden, and tasting yummy food from all over the world.
